Leeds Castle and Canterbury
A Day in Kent 'The Garden of England'
Overview
Leeds Castle has been called the “loveliest castle in the world”. Listed in the Domesday Book, this castle has been a Norman stronghold, a royal residence and a royal palace. It’s situation is stunning, set on two islands in a magnificent lake. There is an abundance of wildlife to see throughout the 500 acre estate. Woodland, parkland and large lakes provide natural habitats attracting great numbers of wildfowl and common woodland birds all year round. Canterbury is one of the most beautiful medieval cities in the UK, and home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pilgrims and visitors have made their way to Canterbury Cathedral since the Middle Ages. It remains one of the most visited places in the country, and, just as importantly, a working, living church and community. The Archbishop of Canterbury is leader of the Church of England and symbolic leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
